Woodcote Sunday Sportive, Aug 2007

Who said riding in the south was for softies? The Chilterns certainly put paid to that idea. For the Woodcote Sunday Sportive, that was truer than ever, as riders tackled the stream of hard, sharp hills on the hottest day of the year. Fortunately the leafy route provided plenty shade and our feed stations plenty of water, but this was undoubtedly a challenge to be proud of completing!
Particularly so for those of you later starters who fell foul to whoever vandalised our route markings, and found yourselves completing the long route instead of the mid. Well done on making it round a longer ride than expected, and we hope your day wasn't spoiled by such a thoughtless act. Luckily, only a handful of riders found themselves in difficulty as a result and we were able to get them safely back in the support vehicles.
Hopefully we'll have no repeat of the problem for our last two Sunday Sportives of this first season, at Leathley in a couple of weeks and Gatwick in October.
